About The Ameda Purely Yours Ultra
The Ameda Purely Yours Ultra is an upgraded version of the original “Purely Yours” (now widely unavailable). The newest model includes a carrying tote, three power sources (AC adapter, battery, and the addition of a car adapter), and extra flanges. While Ameda created the first ever hospital grade breast pump nearly 60 years ago, it has unfortunately fallen slightly behind the times in terms of comfort, quality, and cost compared to its more recent competitors.
Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Design & Features
The Purely Yours Ultra is definitely an upgrade from the original, with much of the same functionality and upgraded features that make it easier to use. Notably, the dials that control the multi-phase pumping are larger and easier to control. The Ultra also has an easier to clean finish, making it a little bit more health-friendly than the original. Like the first model, the Ultra has Ameda’s Proven Airlock Protection™, which helps to prevent milk contamination and protects the baby from bacteria. It comes with a 1 year warranty and can be powered by battery, wall plug, or car adapter for easy use on the go.
Below is a video by Ameda showing how to use the Purely Yours Ultra, as well as some quick stats regarding comfort, price, quality, and noise output in comparison to its competitors.
Pros & Cons Explained
While some users have commented that the pump is comfortable, many have said that the dials do not provide precise enough control to allow comfortable use each and every time. Because of this, some mothers have found it difficult to use consecutively due to soreness.
The Purely Yours Ultra comes in at a fairly lower price point compared to competitors such as Medela and Spectra, but not by a very significant amount.
There is no denying the Purely Yours Ultra does its job as a double electric pump. It will empty both breasts in a reasonable amount of time, although no more so effectively than other models.
Acoustically, this pump falls somewhere in the middle of similar tier products. It can be used at an office or on the go, but running it in the middle of the night may be a little bit too loud.
