About The Hygeia EnJoye
The Higeia EnJoye is a double electric, closed system breast pump with adjustable controls that will allow you to mimic a babies natural motions to ensure the process of pumping is much more comfortable. Reviews on this particular pump are very mixed depending where you go, with some swearing by it and others hating it. So how does the EnJoye stack up?
Hygeia EnJoye Design & Features
Like many double electric pumps, the EnJoye features a closed system, which prevents milk from coming into contact with pump mechanisms like the motor, and stops condensation from building up in the tubes (preventing mold/bacteria growth). It directly competes with Medela in terms of quality and price (and, fun fact, was actually founded by ex-Medela executives!), but does bring some rather unique drawbacks to the table. The main downside to the EnJoye is that parts are not available from any but a select few stores (no Target, Walmart etc). This means that if something breaks, or you need to switch something out, you will need to order it online. That goes for the actual pump as well, as the only place to really pick it up is off the internet. This rather odd quirk aside, the pump does come with a Deluxe Tote and Personal Accessory Set as a bit of a bonus. It also has a remarkably low weight (the pump itself only weights about 2lbs), and is made specifically for moms who pump multiple times per day, multiple days per week. This means you can keep your freezer stocked with spare milk, and the pump will keep on working efficiently through the frequent use.
Below is a video by Hygeia showing how simple it is to use the EnJoye, as well as some quick stats regarding comfort, price, quality, and noise output in comparison to its competitors.
Pros & Cons Explained
The ability to manually adjust both speed and suction plays a huge role in the comfort offered by the EnJoye. The fact that the knobs are manual can provide a feeling of precision as well as certainty in the fact that your settings will be just how you left them when you turn it back on.
There is no doubt that the EnJoye is an investment. Given that it is meant for very frequent use, it is recommended for mothers who expect to be using it for months (or for more than one baby). However, if you do not think you will be pumping for very long, there are other high quality options at lower price points that you may want to try out.
The EnJoye is built to last, and last it does! Many users have reported that the pump is still going strong with no replacements for as long as ten months after its first use. It can also be used with Medela accessories, which helps with the availability issues somewhat.
While noise is somewhat of a subjective rating, the majority of this pumps users say that it is exceptionally quiet (even more so than Medela models).
